John Osterweis graduated from Bowdoin College (B.A. in Philosophy, cum laude), and Stanford Graduate School of Business (M.B.A. with top honors in Finance).

After graduating from business school, he served as a Senior Analyst concentrating on the forest products and paper industry for several regional brokerage firms and later for E.F. Hutton & Company, Inc. In addition to his activities as an analyst, Mr. Osterweis served as Director of Research for two firms and managed equity portfolios for over ten years.

In late 1982, Mr. Osterweis decided to devote full time to his portfolio management activities, and in April of 1983 launched Osterweis Capital Management.

For a number of years Mr. Osterweis served as Director of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Director on the Stanford Alumni Association Executive Board, Trustee of Bowdoin College, Director and Vice Chairman of Mt. Zion Hospital and Medical Center, and President of the Board of Directors for Summer Search Foundation. He currently serves as a Trustee of the San Francisco Ballet Association Director of the San Francisco Free Clinic, and President Emeritus of the San Francisco Ballet Endowment Foundation, as well as Trustee Emeritus of Summer Search Foundation and of Bowdoin College.

Mr. Osterweis is a member of the firm’s Management Committee, a principal of the firm and the co-lead Portfolio Manager for the core equity and flexible balanced strategies.

Larry Cordisco graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (B.A. in Political Science), Georgetown University (M.P.P.) and Columbia Business School (M.B.A.).

Before joining Osterweis in 2019, he was a Co-Portfolio Manager of the Meridian Contrarian Fund at Arrowmark Partners/Meridian Funds. Prior to co-managing the Contrarian Fund, Larry was an equity analyst for 11 years, most recently as Vice President of Investment Research for the Meridian Contrarian Fund. Before that he was an analyst within the technology group at Banc of America Securities. He was also a business and technology consultant for Accenture in San Francisco and began his professional career in the public sector as a District Aide for Congressman George Miller.

Mr. Cordisco is a co-lead Portfolio Manager for the core equity strategy and portfolio manager for the flexible balanced strategy.

Greg Hermanski graduated from The University of California, Los Angeles (B.A. in Business/Economics).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2002, Mr. Hermanski was a Vice President at Robertson Stephens and Co. where he was in charge of convertible bond research. Prior to that, Mr. Hermanski was a Research Analyst covering convertible, high yield, and distressed securities at Imperial Capital, LLC and a Valuation Consultant for Price Waterhouse, LLC.

Mr. Hermanski is a principal of the firm and a Portfolio Manager for the core equity strategy.

Nael Fakhry graduated from Stanford University (B.A. in History, Phi Beta Kappa) and the University of California Berkeley, Walter A. Haas School of Business (M.B.A., C.J. White Scholar).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2011, Mr. Fakhry worked as an Associate at American Securities, a private equity firm, and as an Analyst in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Fakhry is a principal of the firm and a Portfolio Manager for the core equity strategy.

Dave Sherry graduated from Princeton University (A.B. in Economics) and from the Anderson School at UCLA (M.B.A). Mr. Sherry holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2017, Mr. Sherry was a Managing Director at Inflection Partners LLC, where he founded a long/short strategy that focused on the technology sector. Before that, Mr. Sherry held portfolio manager positions at EGM Capital, Partech International and LGT Asset Management. He began his investment career at Franklin Templeton Investments.

Mr. Sherry is a Senior Analyst for the core equity strategy.

Andrew Chang

Andrew Chang graduated from Stanford University (B.S. in Management Science & Engineering, Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi) and from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (M.B.A).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2020, Mr. Chang was a Senior Associate at Mill Road Capital. Before that, Mr. Chang was an Associate at Darlington Partners. He began his investment career at Goldman Sachs Investment Partners.

He also serves on the board of Project Open Hand.

Mr. Chang is an Analyst for the core equity strategy.

Jim Callinan graduated from Harvard College (B.A. Economics), New York University (M.S. Accounting) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A.). Mr. Callinan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2016, Mr. Callinan managed the Emerging Growth Partnership, LP, a concentrated small cap growth strategy he founded at RS and transitioned to his own firm. Before that, he was Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer at RS Investments. He also co-founded the RS Growth Group LLC at Robertson Stephens Investment Management in 1996 and managed the RS Emerging Growth Fund from 1996 until 2010.

He began his career at Putnam Investments as an equity research analyst in 1987 and served as portfolio manager for the Putnam OTC Emerging Growth Fund from 1994 to 1996.

Mr. Callinan is an Executive Committee member of the of Weatherbie Capital (an Alger Company) Advisory Board and the Friends of Harvard Football Board.

Mr. Callinan is a principal of the firm and a Portfolio Manager for the emerging growth strategy. He is also a Portfolio Manager for the flexible balanced strategy.

Matt Unger graduated from Trinity University (B.S. Finance, cum laude) and Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business (M.B.A.). Mr. Unger holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2016, Mr. Unger worked at Callinan Asset Management as a Research Analyst covering the health care service, medical technology and industrial sectors. Prior to that, he spent three years at RS Investments as a Research Associate covering small cap growth companies in the medical technology and industrial sectors. Before graduate school, Matt worked at Platte River Capital covering the medical device sector from 2008-2010.

Bryan Wong graduated from Yale University (B.A. in Political Science and International Studies with distinction) and the University of California Berkeley, Haas School of Business (M.B.A., Investment Management Fellow). Mr. Wong holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2014, Mr. Wong was a member of the investment team managing the endowment of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Before that, Mr. Wong was an Analyst from 2005 to 2009 at two long/short hedge funds.

Carl Kaufman graduated from Harvard University (B.A. in Music, cum laude) and attended the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2002, Mr. Kaufman was a senior member of the convertible bond team at Robertson Stephens, where he focused on technology and biotech securities. Before that, he spent nineteen years with Merrill Lynch in their Institutional Sales office, specializing in convertible bond and equity research sales and trading.

Mr. Kaufman is responsible for the President and CEO functions related to the firm’s investment matters and is a member of the firm’s Management Committee. He is a principal of the firm and the lead Portfolio Manager for the strategic income strategy, which he has managed since its inception in 2002. He is also the Managing Director of Fixed Income and a lead Portfolio Manager for the flexible balanced strategy.

Bradley Kane graduated from Lehigh University (B.S. in Business & Economics).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2013, Mr. Kane was a Portfolio Manager and Analyst at Newfleet Asset Management, where he managed both high yield and leveraged loan portfolios. Before that, he was a Vice President at GSC Partners, focusing on management of high yield and collateralized debt obligations. Earlier in his career, he managed high yield assets as a Vice President at Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management.

Craig Manchuck graduated from Lehigh University (B.S. in Finance) and NYU Stern School of Business (M.B.A.).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2017, Mr. Manchuck was a Managing Director of Fixed Income Sales at Stifel Nicolaus, where he was responsible for sales and origination of high yield bonds, leveraged loans and post reorg equities. Before Stifel, he held a similar role at Knight Capital. Prior to that, Mr. Manchuck was the Executive Director for Convertible Securities and then High Yield/Distressed Securities at UBS. He has previous experience in Convertible Securities Sales at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, SBC Warburg and Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Manchuck is a principal of the firm and a Portfolio Manager for the strategic income strategy.

Eddy Vataru graduated from California Institute of Technology (B.S. Chemistry & Economics) and from Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis (M.B.A.). Mr. Vataru holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2016, Mr. Vataru worked in senior management positions at Incapture, LLC and Citadel, LLC. Before that he spent over 11 years at BlackRock (formerly Barclays Global Investors), where his last position was as Managing Director and Head of U.S. Rates and Mortgages. While in this role, BGI worked with the U.S. Treasury in implementing its Agency MBS Purchase Program, buying mortgages for the U.S. government from 2008-2009.

Over the course of his career as a fixed income investor, Mr. Vataru has developed extensive experience in managing passive, active and hedge fund portfolios.

Mr. Vataru is a principal of the firm and the lead Portfolio Manager for the total return fixed income strategy. He is also a Portfolio Manager for the flexible balanced strategy.

John Sheehan graduated from Georgetown University (B.A. Economics). Mr. Sheehan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2018, Mr. Sheehan spent more than 20 years working at Citigroup, first as Managing Director responsible for Investment Grade Syndicate in New York City, where he advised issuers on accessing funding in the corporate bond market. Later at Citigroup, he was Managing Director in charge of West Coast Investment Grade Sales in San Francisco, where he covered several of the largest U.S. investment grade credit investors.

Mr. Sheehan is a principal of the firm and a Portfolio Manager for the total return fixed income strategy.

Daniel Oh graduated from Columbia University (B.A. Economics/Political Science) and from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (M.B.A.).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2018, Mr. Oh spent over eight years as a Director at Estabrook Capital Management in New York City and was the lead Portfolio Manager of the Estabrook Investment Grade Fixed Income Fund. Before that he was at Merrill Lynch & Co. as an Associate in Prime/Alt-A-Non-Agency Mortgage Trading. Prior to that he held positions at Seneca Financial Group and Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Oh’s professional history includes experience in investment grade corporate credit, whole loan mortgages, structured finance and distressed investments.

Mr. Oh is a principal of the firm and a Portfolio Manager for the total return fixed income strategy.

Tom Davidson graduated from Southern Connecticut State University (B.S.).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2003, Mr. Davidson was Senior Trader at Sand Hill Advisors in Palo Alto, CA, overseeing equity and fixed income trading. Before that, he held trading positions at RSS Investment Counsel in San Francisco, and Alex Brown & Sons in New York.

Mr. Davidson is a principal of the firm.

Adam Slavin graduated from California State University Sacramento (B.S. in Business Finance).

Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2010 as a Performance Analyst, Mr. Slavin was first a Senior Fund Accountant and then a Senior Associate and Supervisor at State Street Bank, where he oversaw the daily operations of fund accounting, monitored and reported performance to clients and oversaw the setup of new funds.

Mr. Slavin serves on the board of the San Francisco Securities Traders Association (SFSTA).

In his time at Osterweis, Mr. Slavin has taken on increasing responsibility and is currently a Portfolio Analyst and Junior Trader.
